The MyMedLab Prenatal Mother Profile was designed to help identify illness and deficiencies that could lead to a higher incidence of autism in your children. It combines the tests that are available in the Father version with an extensive prenatal panel.

Mother Testing includes blood type, nutritionally deficiencies, thyroid status, and exposures to toxins/medications. More and more parents are choosing to explore this preventive option even though there is no guarantee that this information will prevent autism or insure a healthy baby.

Note: Genetic testing and obstetric exam is part of a regular prenatal visit with your physician. These panels should not replace good prenatal care. Please schedule regular appointments with your practitioner before you conceive and throughout your pregnancy.

General risk factors for unhealthy pregnancy and poor outcomes include exposure to alcohol, drugs, smoking, fluoride, caffeine, artificial ingredients, toxins and harmful chemicals, general poor health history of parents, low folic acid, essential fatty acids, inadequate rest, food and fluids. Some autism risk factors include parental and sibling history of autism, ADHD, OCD.

It can also include some psychiatric illnesses, genetic disorders, allergies, asthma, poor immune system (either hyper-immune or low-immunity), learning and language difficulties. Additional factors like advanced maternal age, poor nutrition, low essential fatty acids (EFA’s), prenatal stress, chronic infections, poor periodontal hygiene, before conception and during pregnancy exposures to toxic metals through environment, fish and vaccinations can play a significant role in the development of Autism.
